When
you step off the plane in China, you realize that, in more ways than one, that
you really are on the other side of the world. Aside from the fact that
the clocks are at least 12 hours later than where you came from, the hustle and
bustle is unbelievable. In trying to describe to our Beijing guide (hired
by Anli) how many people lived in our community of 5,000, I tried to find a
place - any place - that wasn't teaming with people. The place that we
ended up choosing? The tunnel under the street that connected Tiananmen
Square and the Forbidden City!
The food is different (and only slightly like the "Chinese Food" here in the states), the people are purposeful in their walk and their look, and unlike the melting pot that is the United States, you will rarely find a western face outside of the major cities except for the group you travel with.
So who can you turn to when you have a question, concern, or just want someone to talk to about why your daughter is crying and you can't seem to make her stop. Anli.
Our adoption through Cradle was our second. In our first, we used another agency that had individual guides in each city where you stayed. We thought that was fine, until we were treated to the personal attention of our coordinator.
In addition to the care and attention you get from the coordinator when you are in China, the China program staff in D.C. are the best. They really show you the benefit of working with a relatively small program - they know you. It really does make a difference.
We wholeheartedly recommend Cradle and the China program. If you'd like to find out more, please call or email us any time. We love to talk about our kids!
