Alek's Story

Alek’s Story (in his own words)

When I came to America I was six I was so scared.  I cried because I didn't want to go in the car with Mama because I didn't know her yet and I am thinking I am going to another detsky dom.  Then she gave me strawberries and she played Russian songs and I stopped crying.  I was happy when I saw Scout and I chased her around the house because I love dogs and I did not ever had a dog.  And I was happy my bed was a car.  We had fun when we went to beach and pool and ride bikes.

I was really sad when I went back to Russia because I love Mama and I wanted to stay and I missed her.  I was not happy when I lived in detsky dom because I am hungry always and nobody gives me food. In detsky dom the best thing was play outside.  The worst thing was sleeping when it is sunny.   Nobody said when is my happy birthday and I just stay and stay and wait and wait and I don't know when is my happy birthday and then someone said, "Alek, you have present from America," and Mama sent me cars.

When Mama came to Russia I was really surprised.  I didn't know she was coming and I am thinking maybe the man said no she can't come.  I didn't know she came to take me back to America.  I am thinking she came just to play with me and every day I looked in the window and I am wondering when is she coming back.  Somebody told me she is gonna take you back to America and I am so happy.

The best thing in America is my mom and my dog and my fish.  I like camping and make s'mores in fire.  I didn't have in detsky dom a swingset and bicycle and tissues.  Now I do.  And I got medicine for my lungs and my teeth are all better now.  I got a soccer trophy and I can jump off diving board.  When I am big I want to be firefighter and police officer and lifeguard.

I am sad because I love my friends in detsky dom but they don't live here and I want to play with them.  If people give money so more children can come to America I will say, "Thank you for helping us. Thank you for giving money so children don't have to be sad and stay in Russia.  Thank you for take good care of them."
